31st August 2009
Player of the Month
Due to an access problem with the names as keys, the game, Chasing Cars, was substantially undervalued. Since this was an admin error, I will keep the original POM and award two Players of the Month for August – both scored solos in 11+ eagle point games so both are well deserved.
Milan Bujic is the joint Player of the Month for his solo in Chasing Cars. Well done Milan.
Lyle Youngblood is the joint Player of the Month for his solo in Mons. Well done Lyle.
Players at the site and news
Chasing Cars scored 11.65 in Eagle points and becomes the 6th highest solo of all time on this site. This was an excellent result for Milan in his third game to finish on this site.
All players with a last date played of August 2007 or older have been removed apart from those who are active in a game. Those active but with an earlier date will have an * against the date. The records have been archived so that if anyone returns, they will be fully restored when they complete a new game. Special mention to John O’Donnell whose date expired in June, was not removed in July (due to time pressures on me) but was removed in August but finished a game in August to be reinstated.
This continual archiving has shown that the site is shrinking with the number of active players at 330. I hoped that this was beginning to level out between 300 and 400 but the trend is still downward.
August was another quietish month with only four games finishing. We had three solos and one draw. If other games have finished, they will be included next month.
766 games have finished now and there are now about 330 active players on the current Eagle rating with a non-zero score.
Any player who had not finished a game since August 2007 has been moved to the archives. Players will be moved off monthly now – unless they are currently in a game. Any player expired players currently in a game will have an * against his date.
Any anarchies automatically go to zero, even if they have previous Eagle points.
It is worth noting that the number of active players will not increase over the year and then be reset in January. A more strict interpretation of the 2 year rule means that anyone included in the EAGLE table will have finished a game in the last 24 months or be currently active in a game.
Jim O’Neil has been running the rating system from the beginning of 2008.

The EAGLE system.
The Eagle contribution for each position will be used in calculating Eagle Game scores for all games finishing from 2009 onwards. The individual contribution is included in the latest Eagle Tables.

Changes in the Premier League
Lawrence McDonald threatens to break into the top 5, moving from position 15 to 7 having only completed 7 games. Is this a threat to Tim? Lyle Youngblood has a spectacular entrance into the Premier moving from 110 to 29. Another one to watch is Milan Bujic who enters the Premier at position 39 from position 154 after only 3 games.
Other minor movements took place.
Changes in other Leagues
Many upward movements in the other leagues, too numerous to mention.
If I have missed a special leap in these leagues, let me know and I will add it.
10 most valuable Solo-victories
Below are the 10 games with most Eagle Points. When 2 games have the same amount of points, then the game that finished last will be placed higher.
